Meditation is a ‘Bliss” for a Empath

Updated: May 25, 2020

Are you an Empath?

An empath, who literally feel the emotions and energy of others, compassion is not a limitless resource. Empath compassion fatigue is the point when you reach your limit. Suddenly, you realise that your emotional stores are depleted and your compassion has been replaced with apathy, or even anger.

Or do you feel uncomfortable to be around people who are pretending to be something they are not? For example, when a person uses kind words, however, their body language and energy seem to show impatience or anger, you will feel this difference and find it disturbing and unsettling. Dealing with people like this will leave us stressed out because we can’t trust them. It is hard to deal with people that give off contradictory vibes.

Nowadays, with the constant bombardment of negative energies, it is a challenge for a Empath to stay grounded.

Even when staying home, within our personal sanctuaries, our empathic antennas are constantly switched on, picking energy from the outside world. Because of this we are easily drained consumed with apathy, and distracted from our true Empath roles.

To combat the constant overwhelm, the modern world imprints on us, we need to protect ourselves and work to stay grounded.

Everyone is different and what works of one Empath might not always work for another. However, it has to be said the best form of protection and way to stay grounded for any Empath is to create resilient, healthy body, quiet mind and strong energy field. Do you know one of the worst things for us as an Empath is Stress! Pained emotions, either your own or those you pick up throughout the day from others, are also stored with us — all the sensory overload that you struggles to deal with.

..and, all the busyness we see in the world today, internet, TV, computers, cell phones, while in some ways better connect us — have really taken us away from our innate empathic ability. A bombardment of stimulus can really desensitise us, disconnecting us from the our empathic abilities.

So, you ask yourself, how do I manage this? Where do I start?

That was my first question when I discovered myself as an Empath and I found the bliss of Meditation. Why do I described it as ‘Bliss’? Meditation has helped me to ground myself, purge cleanse my chakras and balance it. In the end, I will feel lighter, brighter and have my energy back with a new clear sense of self.

Meditation can be defined as a set of techniques that are intended to encourage a heightened state of awareness and focused attention.

Through meditation, we are able to relieve our emotional pain, anxiety, depression and codependency. Simple way of putting it, Meditation is a way for gaining control of your mind and a great technique for balancing our chakras. Why balancing chakras are important to us. Do read one of my article on the benefits of chakra balancing. Now back to meditation, how does meditation help us to manage and avoid emotional exhaustion:

  1. Meditation increases “self-awareness” and “other-self awareness” — By calming the nervous system and expanding your inner awareness, meditation makes you become more aware of your emotions, allowing you to take notice when you experience emotions that don’t necessarily belong to you. I discovered that I am able to differentiate the emotions of mine and others, hence allows me to purge what does not belongs to me.

  2. Meditation strengthens our connections to the unified field — It allows you easy access to your subconscious mind, boosting your empathy and compassion. This is what we are gifted with from the start.

  3. Meditation helps you to set a healthy boundaries-Many people fear that setting strong boundaries will make them seem or become uncaring. Paradoxically, however, it actually helps us be emphatic in a healthy way. When we allow our boundaries to be undermined or overturned too often, our well-being suffers. It is OK to say ‘NO’. The good news is that with meditation, we can learn to develop strong healthy boundaries. You will start to recognise and trust your gut feelings and radiate truth, affecting you and others in a positive way!

  4. Meditation is a great stress reducer-Meditation brings calmness and relaxation mentally and physically. Meditation has also helped me in resolving my insomnia which I have been combating for many years. Now, each night I look forward to sleep!

Meditating in the dark helps to keep the pineal gland (third eye) healthy, which in turn keeps the production of melatonin balanced. Melatonin is known as the anti-ageing hormone and is produced by the pineal gland in the darkness. It is a naturally occurring hormone that regulates the sleep cycle. Studies have shown that meditation, done in complete darkness, before bedtime, increases production of melatonin enough to last you through the night.

…meditation benefits are endless. Do discover it yourself.

“Meditation means the recognition or the discover of one’s own true self.”

Simply put, meditation changed my life, and it could change yours too. It helped me to connect with myself, it reminds me to slow down and breathe. It reminded me that taking stock of my life as it is NOW is the best way to move forward. And it all starts with mindfulness techniques today to guide you toward a better tomorrow.

To begin a meditation practise, it is best to plan a set time every day. Perhaps start with ten minutes and build to twenty or thirty minutes. Having no distractions is important.

For a start, you could try guided meditation, which you know you will not go wrong especially if you are a beginner to meditation. I personally love visualisation guided meditation which focuses on visualisation, meditation and breathwork.

Once you are familiar with the basic, you could take it to a one level higher — Chakra Visualisation Guided Meditation. Your chakras are amazingly powerful energy centers because they interact with the creative energy around you. When your chakras are working properly, your creative manifesting energy can flow better, leading to more success, happiness and fulfilment. You can find a lot of guided meditation on You Tube, or meditation app such as Calm, Headspace or Insight Timer.

How you know if you are doing it right? Remember, meditation is a process-oriented undertaking that focuses on the moment, not on the results. So enjoying the moment is key to successful meditation. Keep in mind not to judge whether the meditation session is good or bad right or wrong. Instead, simply remain in that moment.

Happy meditation! :)

Peace and Love to all 💞
