The Rainbow Energy — Our 7 Chakras

Updated: May 25, 2020

When I encounter my spiritual awakening, I was at lost! I knew it was a calling for me to do something but what was it? Hence I turned to Google reading articles after articles pertaining spiritual awakening. What is spiritual awakening? As simple as it is, spiritual awakenings mark the beginning of your initiation on the spiritual path. Without experiencing a spiritual awakening, we go throughout life pursuing the emptiness of money, fame, power, and respect in an attempt to find “happiness”.

The beautiful things about spiritual awakenings is that they occur at the least expected times. No planning, they just lurch into your life and shake everything up like a tornadoes. The hidden gem buried deep within the turmoil is that they occur at the precise time that you need them the most. Isn’t that a beautiful gift?

I discovered that there are more and more people that are coming forward and sharing their very personal experience of discovering a spiritual world beyond their dreams, beyond what they could have ever imagined, including myself. Meanwhile the divide today between believers and doubters of a spiritual reality is greater then ever. I was at the fence between real material world and the spiritual realm. My awakening was real, too real! I am not able to shut it out or pretend it never happened. I am deeply touched to find my inner self.

My first discovery was be in touch with meditation. I learned that we have to face our deepest wounds to move ourselves forward and this journey opens up my intrigue into learning more about Chakras. What are Chakras? This word was alien to me.

As we know as an Empath, we have the ability to physically feel and experience what another person is going through. We literally embody what is going on for other people, and the energy around them. Energy! Yes you hear me, ENERGY + VIBRATIONS! We are energetic beings and really “gets” the metaphysical concept that everything is energy. Empaths are masters of vibrational intelligence. This is where we soar. Living in the sea of vibrations that make up our reality is the realm of the empath. Now, Energy + Vibrations = Empath. Unfamiliar territory? The important is to understand in this awakening process is that it is your subtle energy field that is erupting and unraveling and producing all the changes.

What does Chakra has to do with energy + vibration? Chakra is an old Sanskrit word that means “wheel”. Chakras are the life force, or prana, that are spinning and rotating inside us. This spinning energy has 7 centers in our body, starting at the base of our spine and moving all the way up to the top of our head. These are the main 7 chakras, our body has 114 points however these are the main 7 chakras that most of us will need to activate and balance.

1 The Root Chakra,

2 The Sacral Chakra,

3 The Solar Plexus Chakra,

4 The Throat Chakra,

5 The Heart Chakra,

6 The Third Eye Chakra,

7 The Crown Chakra.

One way to frame this experience and gain some insight is to use the model common to yogis, that maps chakras (energy vortices) and nadis (flow of energy) and various other knots and points and brain centers that get involved in the transformative and evolutionary change we are experiencing. Chakras are seen in different colours, with different symbols and ascribe various characteristics and talents to each. Chakras are balls of energy — 7 main Chakras, The Rainbow Energy that plays an important role in the balance and health of our bodies. Our energy is meant to flow evenly throughout the entire chakra system, from Root to Crown and back again.

1st Chakra — Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Mula = “Root”, Dhara = “Support”. Colour : Red. Located at the very base of your spine, near your tailbone. Root chakra connect all your energy with the Earth, which is called Grounding.

If your Root Chakra is balanced, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and peace.

If this chakra is overactive will cause anxiety and jitteriness. Why? This happens because fear is the based on the need to survive. That is fear’s role — to keep us alive. Physically, you might have digestive problems, lower back issues, hip pain and ovarian cysts in women or prostate issues in men.

If this chakra is underactive you may experience frequent daydreaming, trouble concentrating or the feel like “heads in the clouds”.

You can balance this chakra by reconnecting to the earth by being out in the nature — Hiking, gardening, swimming, take off your shoes and walk on the grass, you can even play in the leaves :)

2nd Chakra — Sacral Chakra (Svadhishana)

Svadhishana = “the place of the self”. Colour : Orange. Located right below the belly button and extends to its center. Sacral Chakra is the home of the creative life force energy that helps you enjoy your life here on Earth. This chakra is all about your identity as a human and what you do with it. This chakra is responsible for bringing you creative energy to help enrich your life.

If your Sacral Chakra is balance, you will relish in the pleasurable things life has to offer, without overdoing them.

If this chakra is overactive we will face things like addiction and gluttony. If you find yourself enjoying things that aren’t nourishing for your soul or healthy for you, then your sacral chakra is likely out of balance.

If this chakra is underactive we will focus on practical things without enjoying the fruits of your labor which will lead to depression, impotence, lack of passion and creativity.

Energizing your Sacral Chakra is fun — In simple term, you will be able to enjoy life! Take time for yourself and enjoy the incredible gifts the Earth has to offer you!

3rd Chakra — Solar Plexus (Manipura)

Munipura = “lustrous gem”. Colour : Yellow. Located above the belly button, extends up to the breastbone (where your two sets of ribs connect in the center of your chest). Solar Plexus is where your self-confidence, identity and personal power are born.

If your Solar Plexus chakra is balanced, you will feel a sense of wisdom, decisiveness and personal power.

If this chakra is overactive you may feel quick to anger, the need to control and micromanage, greediness and a lack of compassion or empathy. Physically, you might suffer from digestive issues or even imbalances in your internal organs like appendix, pancreas, liver and kidneys.

If this chakra is underactive you feel indecisive, insecure, timid and needy.

You can balance this chakra by thinking of the things that you know you’re good at. Everyone has talents and abilities :) Make a list, feel how the confidence in those talents makes your stomach tingle and vibrate. Empower that feeling by creating your own personal affirmations.

4th Chakra — Heart (Anahata)

Anahata = “unhurt”. Colour : Green. Located right over your heart, radiates down to your breastbone and up to your throat. It is the middle one of the 7 chakras and it’s connecting the higher chakras (the heaven) with the lower chakras (the physical world). Solar Plexus is where your love, compassion and kindness are empowered.

If your Heart Chakra is balanced, you are able to equally feel love for yourself and others. Even when tough things happen, you can still see the compassion and kindness in others.

If this chakra is overactive you will lose your personal boundaries and start to make unhealthy choices, all in the name of love. You may find yourself always putting the needs of others before your own. Physically, you may have fast heart rate, palpitations, heartburn and interpersonal relationship issues.

If this chakra is underactive, you will feel like it’s hard to get really close to anyone. It’s like building a wall around your heart and not letting anyone in.

You can balance this chakra by showing appreciation to yourself, and give yourself the love that you want others to give to you. Spread that compassion to those around you.

5th Chakra — Throat (Vishuddha)

Vishuddha = “very pure”. Colour : Blue. Located in between your collar bone, and it radiates down to the centre of your heart and up to the center of your eyes. Throat Chakra lets you speak your truth with clarity. As it rest right above the heart, it is connected to the compassion and love you have for yourself and others.

If your Throat Chakra is balanced, you will be able to clearly speak with love, kindness and truth.

If this chakra is overactive you may spend a lot of time trying to make your voice heard. You might often interrupt others, often be told you have a loud voice. Physically, you might suffer from throat pain, frequent infections, cavities or mouth ulcers.

If this chakra is underactive you have likely been called shy or quiet. Sometimes, we have been ignored and invalidated so much that we react in the opposite way — we shut down our voices and never speak our truth.

You can balance this chakra is as easy as thinking before you speak. Take it from Buddha, before you say anything, ask yourself.

6th Chakra — Third Eye (Ajna)

Ajna = “beyond wisdom”. Colour : Indigo. Located between your eyebrows. It radiates down to your mouth and up to the top of your head. Third Eye opens up your mind to information beyond the material world and the 5 senses. Extrasensory perception, intuition or psychic energy, all come from the third eye.

If your Third Eye is balanced, is a beautiful thing, and it’s really what you are trying to achieve when you start on a path to spiritual development. You will equally feel in tune with both the physical world and the material world. You will receive psychic information as frequently as you receive information from your 5 physical sense, but it will not overwhelm you.

If you compare to all the 7 chakras, it is very unlikely your Third Eye chakra is overactive. Most of us are very in tune with our physical reality and find it difficult to receive information outside of it. That being said, if you have an overactive third eye, you likely spend most of your time engrossed in psychic activities like tarot card readings, astrology and paranormal experiences.

Most people have underactive Third Eye chakra. We live in a world that often invalidates intuitive development. Because of this, we close off our Third ye and ignore our own psychic experiences. Doing so can cause us to feel disconnected from spiritual experiences. Physically you may feel headaches or have problems with allergies and our sinuses.

Energising your third eye will take some practice. You’ll need to devote some time to quiet, solitary meditation. At first, get used to the feeling of focusing on signals outside of your physical body. Listen to your spirit and recognise how that feels. As you practise this, you’ll find it easier and easier to connect with the energy from your Third Eye.

7th Chakra — Crown (Sahaswara)

Sahaswara = “thousand petaled”. Colour : Violet-White. Located at the tope of your head. It radiates dow to between your eyes and then extends infinitely upward and outward, connecting you to the energy of the rest of the universe. Crown chakra is one of those energies that’s hard to explain. You can think of it like magnetism. When you hold a piece of metal to a magnet, you can feel the energy and tension, but you can’t see it. Consciousness energy is everywhere and in everything. It connects us to the entire universe.

Achieving a balanced crown chakra is the goal of every spiritual warrior and it’s not easy to do. You can think of it as the Buddhist concept of achieving Nirvana. Once you achieve it, you’re not really human anymore, you’ve conquered suffering and death.

It is not possible to have overactive crown chakra. Because it is the seat of universal energy, it is innately infinite. In other words, you can’t exist in the material world and be overcome with consciousness energy.

If this chakra is underactive means you’re human.

Instead of attempting to open up and active your crown chakra, focus on balancing the other 6 chakras.

Meditate and connect with spirit and balance those activities with living and enjoying your human experience.

HOW DO YOU OPEN YOUR 7 CHAKRAS?

  1. MEDITATE — Meditation is perhaps the most powerful tool for opening the chakra. Chakra meditation is calming and can improve your overall life. If you are a beginner and wonder how — there are many guided meditation on you tube or meditation app i.e insight timer, calm or headspace. I personally love guided meditation as you will never go wrong by that especially if you are a beginner to meditation.

  2. USING MUDRAS AND MANTRAS — Mudras are specific positions that help open the chakras. These are a perfect addition to meditation. Mantras are sound, word or phrase that you can chant during meditation. Each chakras has its own set of mudras and mantras, so don’t be afraid to experiment with them and see how you feel. Personally, I feel good when I meditate with the chakras mantras. You will be able to feel the vibration from inside to your whole body.

  3. CHAKRA CRYSTAL STONES- My personal favourite tool. Crystals are a powerful tool for opening chakras. When we interact with them, our energy and the energy of crystals combine and so they affect our mental and physical health. By using these crystals, we promote energetic movement and open our chakras. Do not forget to cleanse and programme your crystals before you start on your first meditation with your crystals. How to programme your crystals — Hold the crystal (one each time if you have a few, you will have 7 crystals for crystal chakra meditation) in the palm of your left hand. Focus your mind and visualise your intended goals. Focus your energy and intent on the crystal. Once you have tune and connect with your crystals after a few sessions of meditations, you will feel the vibrations of the crystals in your palm.

The crystals I am using for my chakra healing meditations are:

Root Chakra (Red Jasper), Sacral Chakra (Carnelian), Solar Plexus Chakra (Tiger Eye), Heart Chakra (Green Aventurine), Throat Chakra (Lapis Lazuli), Third Eye Chakra (Amethyst), Crown Chakra (Clear Quartz)

Each of the crystals colours corresponds with the colour of the chakras. You can google for other crystals recommendation.

Remember to cleanse it (by running cold tap water) and charge your crystals once a while by Expose it to moonlight or sunlight, bury it in the soil or sit them on a bed of clear quartz crystal or selenite. If you use clear quartz, ensure you regularly cleanse your clear quartz as it does not have the ability to charge itself like selenite does. Becareful of soaking your crystals in salt water as some crystals does not have the tolerance and might melt away.

Wishing all a wonderful meditation experience!! :)

Peace and Love to all 💞
