Guide to Happiness - Live Consciously

Updated: Feb 26

Living with intention and awareness involves being fully present in each moment, making deliberate choices, and maintaining a heightened sense of awareness in all aspects of life.

Every Soul is on a mission to grow in awareness of itself as one with Spirit. Spirit exists in everything, and so this is where the soul’s quest begins - with everything. When a soul extends love to another, it experiences a deep connection with it. This connection is the awareness of Oneness.

  • Body

  • Mind

  • Intelligence

  • Soul

  • Spirit

Our physical body comes from our parents. We inherit the genetics from them. Our Mind comes from society - everything that is in our surroundings, including our parents, family, media, environment, religion, and even the time period in which we live. Intelligence is what differentiates between good and bad, true and false, right and wrong, beautiful and ugly; the Intelligence depends on the accumulated experiences gained in our past lifetimes, including this lifetime. Soul is that which is immortal; it is part of the Spirit, some call it our ‘Higher-Self’ or ‘Divine Spark’.

Many of us have studied this, however, why are we still struggling with life, still confused how we should live our lives?

Why are we still feeling that we are drifting through life, and not going where we want to go? Or perhaps you don't know how we got where we are today?

Now, let's ask ourselves are we living consciously? Deciding to live consciously could be the single most important thing we do in our lifetime.

Let's start asking ourselves questions about several aspects of life satisfaction and fulfillment.

1. Are you in a job that you fell into rather than the job you want?

2. Are you doing things that are given to you rather than what you love to do?

3. Are you spending your time doing busy work rather than what you want to do with your days?

4. Do you wish you could spend more time with loved ones?

5. Do you find yourself overweight because you’ve been eating the food you’ve been eating for years and stuck in a rut of not exercising?

6. Do you find yourself living from paycheck to paycheck or in debt, not knowing where your money goes?

7. Do you find yourself wasting your time doing things that aren’t important rather than focusing on completing the things that are very important?

8. Do you go through your days not thinking about what you want out of life and how to get it?

If you're experiencing some of these challenges, it may be beneficial to reflect on your current situation and consider making positive changes. Here are some general suggestions for each question:

  1. Job Satisfaction: If you fell into your current job and it's not what you want, consider exploring your interests and skills. Look for opportunities to transition into a field that aligns better with your passion.

  2. Doing What You Love: Assess whether there are aspects of your current role that you enjoy, and see if there are ways to incorporate more of those tasks into your daily routine. Alternatively, explore hobbies or activities outside of work that bring you joy.

  3. Time Management: Identify truly important tasks and prioritize them. Delegate or eliminate less crucial activities. Efficient time management can help you focus on what matters most to you.

  4. Spending Time with Loved Ones: Make a conscious effort to allocate time for your loved ones. Schedule regular activities or family gatherings to strengthen your connections.

  5. Health and Fitness: Evaluate your eating habits and consider incorporating healthier choices. Find an exercise routine that you enjoy, making it easier to stick to and improve your overall well-being.

  6. Financial Management: Create a budget to track your spending and identify areas where you can cut back. Consider seeking financial advice to manage debt and save for future goals.

  7. Prioritizing Tasks: Practice prioritization by identifying high-priority tasks and focusing on completing them before less important activities. This can enhance productivity and satisfaction.

  8. Life Goals: Take time to reflect on your life goals and aspirations. Set specific, achievable goals and create a plan to work towards them. Regularly reassess your progress and make adjustments as needed.

You've expressed a profound understanding of the concept of living consciously, and you're absolutely right—it's a lifestyle that involves cultivating mindfulness in every aspect of our lives. Breaking out of autopilot and making conscious choices can indeed be challenging, but the benefits in terms of personal growth, fulfillment, and well-being can be significant?

Here are a few additional tips to help cultivate a more conscious and intentional life:

  1. Mindfulness Practice: Incorporate mindfulness meditation or other mindfulness practices into your daily routine. This can help you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and actions.

  2. Reflection: Regularly take time to reflect on your goals, values, and the direction you want your life to take. This reflection can guide your choices and actions.

  3. Gratitude: Cultivate a habit of gratitude. Acknowledge and appreciate the positive aspects of your life, fostering a positive mindset and a deeper connection with the present moment.

  4. Small Steps: Break down larger goals into smaller, more manageable steps. Taking small, intentional actions consistently over time can lead to meaningful changes.

  5. Surround Yourself Positively: Spend time with people who inspire and support your journey toward conscious living. Surrounding yourself with positive influences can make the process more enjoyable and sustainable.

  6. Learn from Mistakes: Embrace mistakes and failures as opportunities for learning and growth. Rather than viewing them negatively, use them as stepping stones toward improvement.

  7. Set Intentions: Start your day with clear intentions about how you want to live and the choices you want to make. Regularly check in with yourself to ensure alignment with these intentions.

Remember, living consciously is a continuous journey, and it's okay to take it one step at a time. Celebrate your progress, and be patient and compassionate with yourself as you navigate the challenges of breaking old habits and forming new, conscious ones.

The time it takes to form a new habit can vary widely based on the complexity of the behavior, individual differences, and specific circumstances.

More recent research, particularly a study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology in 2009, found that, on average, it takes about 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic or a habit. However, this duration can vary significantly among individuals and based on the complexity of the behavior.

It's important to note that forming habits is a gradual process, and there isn't a one-size-fits-all timeline. Consistency, repetition, and motivation are key factors in establishing new habits. If you're trying to adopt a new behavior, be patient with yourself and focus on building a routine that supports your goals.

Meaningful and lasting changes often take time, effort, and consistent commitment. Transforming habits, lifestyles, or achieving personal goals is a process that involves gradual steps and perseverance.

Here are a few key points to keep in mind:

  1. Consistency is Key: Small, consistent efforts over time can lead to significant changes. Rather than aiming for overnight transformations, focus on making sustainable progress.

  2. Patience and Persistence: Be patient with yourself during the journey. Setbacks and challenges are a natural part of change, and persistence is crucial for overcoming obstacles.

  3. Celebrating Progress: Acknowledge and celebrate small victories along the way. Recognizing your achievements, no matter how small, can help maintain motivation.

  4. Learn from Setbacks: Instead of viewing setbacks as failures, see them as opportunities for learning and growth. Understand what went wrong, adjust your approach, and continue moving forward.

  5. Support System: Surround yourself with supportive individuals who can encourage and motivate you. Sharing your goals with others can create a sense of accountability.

  6. Mindful Reflection: Regularly reflect on your journey, the changes you've made, and the impact on your life. This self-awareness can help you stay on course and make adjustments as needed.

Remember, change is a gradual process, and the journey is just as important as the destination. Embrace the effort and dedication required for lasting transformation, and be kind to yourself throughout the process.
